Peer Support in high schools

Empower your senior students to help younger students feel safe and supported at school, by running Peer Support in your high school.

The Peer Support Program is an opportunity for your senior students to lead small groups of Year 7 students.

The program helps your incoming students transition into high school. It builds long-lasting connections across the school community, while also teaching students a range of social and emotional literacy skills. Students have an opportunity to practise these skills in a safe space.

Schools typically run one module each year, and choose a topic that best suits their needs. Each module includes eight sessions of 40-minutes each, designed to be run weekly across eight weeks, led by pairs of Peer Leaders.

Choose a wellbeing topic to suit your high school

Program resources include three core modules that are led by your senior students over eight weeks:

  • Strengthening Our Connections: Creating an anti-bullying culture
  • Rethinking Challenges: Building resilience
  • Best Version Of Me: Exploring values, integrity and inclusion.

Other high school resources include:

  • Framework For Orientation: Activities to support the transition to high school
  • Linking To Thrive: Activities for building strong relationships.
  • Thrive: Managing change and transition
  • Connected And Capable: Supporting resilience

We provide training to your coordinating teacher and access to all our resources when you join Peer Support.
