Clairgate Public School was completely new to The Peer Support Program at the end of 2014, so our consultant Miranda McCallum paid a visit to give the staff an insight into what it’s all about.
Lots of questions were answered and the Principal confirmed the school was very committed to implementation of Peer Support in the year ahead.
One of the activities undertaken during Miranda’s visit was a vote on which resource module the school would start with. In Primary schools, there is a choice of four different modules in the first year, including Resilience, Relationships, Optimism and Values. The Anti-bullying module offered by Peer Support is available for implementation from the second year.
It was great to see democracy in action at Clairgate, as staff all agreed that the Optimism Module would best suit their students’ needs. While this would be their first time running The Peer Support Program, staff were feeling very positive and enthusiastic. What better way to begin Peer Support’s Optimism module at their school!
“Thanks so much for the presentation yesterday, Miranda. The staff thought it was great. It was very informative, interactive and motivating. We are looking forward to beginning the training with our leaders in Term 1. Have a lovely holiday.” – Clairgate Public School Teacher, Jo Wiles
We look forward to checking in with Jo and the other teachers from Clairgate PS later in 2015 to hear how their first year went. Watch this space!
