PEER SUPPORT IMPLEMENTATION WORKSHOP
Time: 9am – 4pm
Attending a Peer Support Implementation Workshop is the essential first step to getting The Peer Support Program up and running at your school. It is an interactive, enjoyable, full day of professional learning which provides teachers with the tools to coordinate an effective Peer Support Program and confidently train their Peer Leaders. At least one teacher from each school must be trained at an Implementation Workshop, however we recommend that two teachers attend training.
The Workshop allows time for planning and discussion of your specific school’s implementation plans. Having a colleague from your school to work with during this process is particularly valuable, although not essential.
“I’m so excited about implementing the program. I have all of Stage 3 including my AP on board. Thank you for a fantastic workshop. I really felt pumped about Peer Support and couldn’t wait to share with my team.” – Z. Ali, Tregear PS, NSW
“Fantastic venue, fantastic facilitator. I learnt how valuable this program is for today’s schooling.” – Coolamon Central School, NSW
SRC LEADERSHIP FOR TEACHERS WORKSHOP
Time: 9am – 4pm
Peer Support Australia’s SRC Leadership for Teachers Workshop is ideal for those responsible for coordinating the Student Representative Council at their school. This interactive, full day workshop assists schools to develop an effective SRC program which encourages meaningful and active participation of students across all areas of school life.
Teacher Accreditation and Professional Development
The Implementation Workshop and the SRC Leadership for Teachers Workshop meets Australian Professional Standards for Teachers at the level of Proficient Teacher, Descriptors 3.5.2, 6.4.2, 6.3.2, 7.4.2. In NSW, teachers will receive 6 hours of BOSTES endorsed accreditation. Read more on Teacher Accreditation.

Peer Support Implementation Resources
Once teachers have attended the Implementation Workshop, their school is eligible to purchase The Peer Support Program Manual and the individual educational Modules which include the 8 peer led sessions. The Resources are comprehensive and contain everything teachers need for training of Peer Leaders and implementation of the Program in their school.
The Peer Support Program
The Peer Support Program is a peer led, skills based, experiential learning program that empowers young people to support each other and contribute positively to society. It provides students with a supportive learning environment in which to develop the skills, understandings, attitudes and strategies to improve their mental, social and emotional wellbeing. It develops key skills in resilience, assertiveness, decision making, problem solving and leadership. Importantly, it utilises a whole school approach to support positive cultural change and provides authentic leadership opportunities for Peer Leaders.
“I’d like to thank you for the support you provided me when in the role by way of training, newsletters and modules. I think Peer Support is a wonderful program and I have been advocating it in the school where I work. Keep up the good work!” – Jo McAllister, Home School Liaison Officer, Shellharbour/Wollongong, NSW
“Our students love the program. We are running it with our Year 11s and Year 9s. It is brilliant and I’m glad we’re doing it with the children.” – Nikki, Assistant Head of Campus, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College, Sadadeen Campus, Alice Springs, NT
